2008 National Conference

Bob Bryant


   

Bob Bryant has served as a pastor at Cypress Valley Bible Church in Marshall, Texas since its founding in 1975.  He received a B.A. from Baylor University in 1971, and a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1975. Each year Bob does short term missionary work in Eastern Europe in the Institute of Biblical Studies, a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. He trains CCC Eastern European staff in the Bible and theology. Bob has spoken many times at the GES national conference. .
  

  


Dr. William Dembski


 

Having dual doctorates in mathematics and philosophy, Dr. William A. Dembski is a world leader in the intelligent design movement. He is Research Professor in Philosophy at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth. He is also a senior fellow with Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture in Seattle. Previously he taught at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville and at Baylor University. He is the author of twelve books including
* Uncommon Dissent: Intellectuals Who Find Darwinism Unconvincing,
* Unapologetic Apologetics: Meeting the Challenges of Theological Studies,
* Signs of Intelligence: Understanding Intelligent Design.
This will be Dr. Dembski’s first time to speak at the GES annual conference.


Jody Dillow


Dr. Dillow received his Doctorate from Dallas Theological Seminary. He has served on the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ, Christian Family Life, and as a visiting instructor in Systematic Theology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (now Trinity University). His books include
* The Reign of the Servant Kings,
* Solomon on Sex,
* Speaking in Tongues, and
* The Waters Above: Earth's Pre-flood Vapor Canopy.
Before moving to Colorado, he and his wife Linda lived in Hong Kong and in Vienna, Austria, where he served as the founder and director of Biblical Education by Extension International (now BEE World, International), a biblical training ministry for church leadership in Eastern Europe, Russia, China and the Middle East. Jody has been a plenary speaker at the national GES conference twice before.


Dan Hauge


Dan is a graduate of Grace University and of Dallas Theological Seminary. During his fourth year at DTS, Dan and Bob Wilkin debated one of their professors in a public forum on campus over Free Grace issues. After graduating from DTS in 1982, Dan pastored for nearly two decades in Iowa. He then moved to Omaha to teach at Grace University. Dan is currently Pastor of Discipleship at Shadow Lake Community Church in Papillion, NE, a suburb of Omaha. This will be Dan’s first time to be a plenary speaker at the national conference.

   


Zane Hodges


A leading spokesman for the grace gospel, Zane Hodges is the author of many books including
* The Gospel Under Siege,
* Grace in Eclipse,
* Absolutely Free! A Biblical Reply to Lordship Salvation,
* Six Secrets of the Christian Life,
* James: Proven Character Through Testing, and
* The Epistles of John: Walking in the Light of God’s Love.
He taught New Testament Greek and exegesis at Dallas Theological Seminary for 27 years and has ministered in the Dallas area for over 48 years. Zane is a world recognized scholar in New Testament Textual Criticism, having his own published edition, along with the late much loved Dr. Art Farstad, of The Greek New Testament According to the Majority Text. Most of the current leaders of the Free Grace movement were trained by Zane Hodges. Zane has been a keynote speaker at the GES National Conference on many occasions.


   


Nathan Holsteen


 

Dr. Holsteen worked as an avionics engineer before receiving his doctorate in theology from the prestigious Aberdeen University in Scotland. He joined the faculty of the Theology Department at Dallas Theological Seminary in 2005. Prior to that, he served as adjunct professor at Criswell College. He is particularly interested in encouraging students to be fully engaged in the world outside the seminary walls, and loves to discuss the development of theological systems, especially in Reformation and post-Reformation contexts. Dr. Holsteen is an expert in post-Reformation Scottish theology. His father, Verdane (Verd) Holsteen, has been a regular participant in GES’ annual conference for many years. This will be Dr. Holsteen’s first time to be a plenary speaker at the GES conference.


  


John Niemelä


 


Dr. John Niemelä, a Finn, received his doctorate in New Testament from Dallas Theological Seminary. He served as Professor of Greek at Chafer Seminary for a decade. Currently he is the head of Message of Life Ministries and is the Pastor of Grace Chapel in Orange, California. In his spare time John has become somewhat of an expert in R. G. Letourneau and his earth moving equipment. John regularly travels to Perth, Western Australia to minister in churches there. John has been a regular presenter at the national GES conference.

 

Bob Wilkin


 

Dr. Bob Wilkin is the Founder and Executive Director of Grace Evangelical Society. Before attending Dallas Theological Seminary, he was on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ in college ministry (Arkansas State Univ. and North Carolina State University) for four years. During his doctoral work at DTS, Bob served as Pastor of Lake Cities Bible Church in Lewisville, Texas. After seminary he taught Greek and Bible at Woodcrest College and Multnomah Bible College. He has published hundreds of newsletter and journal articles, three booklets, and three books:
* Confident in Christ,
* The Road to Reward, and
* Secure and Sure. 

  


Ken Yates


Dr. Ken Yates has just completed twenty years as a chaplain in the U. S. Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Ken served with various units throughout the U. S. and overseas. He received a Th. M. from DTS in 1987, a second Th. M. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2000, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Erskine Theological Seminary in 2003.  Ken taught theology at Luther Rice Seminary for three years. He and his wife Pam have been married for nearly 30 years and have four daughters. Ken has been a regular participant in the GES National Conference over the years, and has been a plenary speaker once before.
